Tonight, four bands you love will play the music of Queen. One band you didn't love as much won't. And what we can glean about a band's talent from a cover of "We Will Rock You" remains to be seen. But the bands will also be performing one of their original numbers, which will help break the pack up tremendously. Unless one of those originals is based on an old Queen song.
First up tonight is The Clark Brothers, performing "These Are The Days Of Our Lives." Seemingly following Dicko's advice from last week, the Clark Brothers have added a drummer and a bassist. We'd have to check their IDs to confirm if they're real Clarks, but there they are all the same. Okay, that drummer is definitely not a Clark boy. That doesn't stop the judges from loving the song, though.
Next up is Light of Doom with "We Will Rock You." So here we go. With the boys starting off behind four taiko drums, this is more like a Blue Man Group show. But then shredding time comes. John Rzeznik disliked the vocals and the presentation, but he was just being honest. Sheila E. agrees with John. Dicko goes with the flow.
The penultimate band tonight is Sixwire and they'll be performing "Fat Bottom Girls," one of the all time great jukebox songs. You wanna make a bar fun? Put on "Fat Bottomed Girls." The judges were quite, quite pleased by the effort.
Denver and the Mile High Orchestra and Dot Dot Dot. Only one of these bands is playing tonight. Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. Hugs and flat-ironed hair all around in the green room. D&TMHO will be singing "Sleepin' on the Sidewalk." After the requisite dedication to their vanquished foe, of course. The judges liked it, though they also wanted a bit more.
Moving to the second round, we have The Clark Brothers with their original, "Homestead." The judges liked this effort just as much as the first. Except Dicko thought the lyrics were pap. Light of Doom's original is called "Matter of Time." The judges disliked this effort just as much as the first. Sixwire's original is "Go On." Perhaps the comments are coming from a template tonight, because the judges were quite, quite pleased by the second effort.
Based on the pattern, D&TMHO had better look out after they finish their original, "Big White House." And yes, the judges liked it…they just also wanted a bit more.
And that's it for this week.
